•Welcome to chapter 2 of the Academy Orientation. This chapter addresses all the information you need to start and maintain an Academy.
•
•
•
•An example of a Support Academy relationship can be illustrated by a Local Academy going to their Regional Academy for help or assistance
•
•
•Academy courses help prepare students to test for the following certifications:
•
•
•The QAP was developed to hold Academy sites accountable for high-quality, consistent delivery of the Cisco Networking Academy Program. •The QAP provides a framework intended to help all Academy sites achieve the following quality-related goals:
•
•There are two different ways an organization may become a Local Academy:
1.A Regional Academy may recruit a new Local Academy by supporting that Local Academy in one or more curricula.
2.A Local Academy may be actively seeking a new support relationship with a Regional Academy in order to offer a new curriculum
•Once a working relationship has been established between the two institutions and the supporting paperwork is complete, the Regional Academy Legal Main Contact or Curriculum Lead will enter the new Local Academy and its curricula plans into the Academy Connection.
•
•
•The Legal Main Contact creates the necessary accounts for their Academy by adding new users. New Users will include many roles such as : Instructor, Registrar, Curriculum Lead, and Academy Asset Manager
•Once a profile is submitted, the system will display the entered information along with a hyperlink to view the certification status and information page (similar to an unofficial transcript).
•
•Academies are responsible for providing their students with an effective learning environment. The requirements include: see above
•
•
•Lab equipment purchased from Cisco or donated by Cisco includes nine months of SMARTnet support. These nine months of support follow the standard Cisco 90-day warranty for new products, to total 12 months of SMARTnet support.
•
•Subsequent years are provided at the current yearly SMARTnet prices for the particular equipment that each Academy has, minus the 30 percent educational discount. To renew SMARTnet, please call 1-800-213-1542. Please have the SMARTnet number ready when calling.

•The Global Learning Network - Services Manager (GLN-SM) is a component of the Global Learning Network. •The GLN-SM consists of two components. First, there is a person who assumes the role of manager.  This person carries out the responsibilities of this position. Second, there is specific hardware and software that helps the manager carry out Academy duties as needed for this type of work. •The GLN-SM allows Academies to track what assets are used to support the delivery of services for each course offered at the Academy.  Exampled of tracked assets are seen on this page.
•Curriculum Delivery
•Personalized Feedback Display Pages
•Net Labs
•More Information
•In order to access the Site Survey, the Academy Asset Manger must successfully complete the GLN Orientation version 2.0 or have completed GLN Orientation 1.0 and all the associated GLN orientation continuing education events. Upon successful completion of the course, the Site Survey will be made available within 24 hours. The Academy Program strongly encourages all Academies to complete the general Site Survey as part of the best practices in Academy implementation

•Academy and Class Locators may be accessed before or after logging on to the Academy Connection. The Academy and Class Locators are one locator form, with two options. One of the options, Locate Academy, allows you to find the Academies associated with your search criteria. The other option, Locate Class, allows you to find the start and end dates of classes being offered at various Academies.  •While you are using the locator, if a search returns more than 500 results, the system will ask you to narrow your query and try again. Additional fields such as Theatre, institution type, curriculum, and environment) have been added to the locator to help narrow your search criteria.
•When you use the Membership Directory, you can search for co-workers, peers or alumni with accounts on the Academy Connection but only if those users are participating and want to be located. From the Membership Directory Results page, you will see the results matching your search criteria and a hyperlink on the username. This link will display the user's public profile information.  Remember the user is responsible for creating their own profile information.
