How Many Times Should Students Be Allowed To Take Exams?
•Chapter Exams: As many times as necessary to help students achieve mastery with the content material • Final exams: Generally used as an evaluative tool to determine the level of mastery students have achieved on material for a particular course. As such, a single administration of final exams is strongly encouraged
It is important however, that students are not merely learning the items themselves, but rather the content in the chapter. The academy assessment team provides guidelines regarding the maximum number of attempts for each exam. These are our recommendations based on how the exam was authored and should be used in conjunction with local guidelines regarding allowing students to take exams multiple times.

Instructors wishing to allow students a chance to re-take final exams, multiple forms should be utilized and the student should be given a different form upon re-taking the exam
